John Waters' Carsick follows the cult filmmaker as he hitchhikes from Baltimore to San Francisco. The book is split into three parts. The first two are fictional accounts of what Waters imagines to be the best and worst possible outcomes. These chapters are at times disgusting, shocking, and uncomfortable but they are all quite funny. Hearing Waters describe the people who actually picked him up in the third (non-fictional) section is interesting but after the crazy stories in the first two thirds, it's an odd change of pace. Despite this, Carsick is fun light reading that will make you laugh.
