It is easy to get completely absorbed by this book. It's a dense coming of age/mystery/historical fiction novel full of everything you ever wanted to know about Catholicism, the inquisition, the politics of Franciscan monks (who vow to live in poverty), set in an ancient library , where monks are being murdered. It's brilliant.
